BBC Breakfast happily greeted the return of a beloved presenter on Wednesday morning, marking the end of her prolonged absence.

After an absence of nearly seven months, business presenter Nina Warhurst returned to the studio at Media City.

Last June, the 43-year-old presenter took maternity leave before joyfully welcoming her third child, a baby girl named Nancy.

Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell welcomed Nina warmly as she delivered her first business report of the morning on Wednesday’s show, stepping in for regular presenter Sally Nugent.

“Delighted to say that Nina is back from maternity leave!” exclaimed Jon, turning towards Nina in the studio corner. “Welcome back, lovely to see you.”

“Thank you very much, lovely to be back,” Nina responded, expressing her joy while also mentioning missing her little girl at home. “I’ve missed the gang, I’m missing the baby this morning, very much but it’s lovely to be back, best job in the world. And best baby in the world! I know everyone thinks their baby is the best one, but sorry guys, mine actually is.”

Fans expressed their joy at Nina’s return to the screen. On social media, one person posted: “Turned on @BBCBreakfast and @NinaWarhurst is back! Welcome back Nina!” Another added: “@BBCBreakfast @NinaWarhurst Great to see you back to brighten up our mornings Nina. We’ve missed you.” A third viewer simply said, “Lovely to see Nina back!”

Nina’s baby girl’s arrival was announced on BBC Breakfast last July. Jon and Sally shared the news, displaying a photo of Nina and Ted, her husband, cradling their newborn in the hospital.

After her baby’s birth, Nina spoke openly about her pregnancy, admitting it was “harder” than her previous experiences. She shared on social media in July, mentioning symptoms like “swollen scars, bleeding breasts, mastitis fever, hormonal crashes,” and exhaustion, stating it was a more challenging pregnancy and recovery.

Nancy, Nina, and Ted, who’ve been married since 2014, also have two young boys together. Digby was born in 2016, and Michael followed two years later in 2018.

Another BBC Breakfast personality who became a parent recently, like Nina, is Emma Vardy. She’s the LA Correspondent at BBC News and welcomed a baby boy in August last year.

On Instagram, she shared her biggest news yet: “Introducing my greatest breaking news ever. Baby boy Jago Fionn has arrived.”

Following the arrival of her baby, Emma, who used to report for the BBC in Ireland, relocated to the United States after embracing a new position as the BBC’s Los Angeles Correspondent.

While Nina was away, Emma frequently filled in for the main star, handling responsibilities until she had her own baby.
