Amy Dowden has faced yet another setback, having been compelled to withdraw from the esteemed Blackpool show of Strictly Come Dancing. The seasoned dancer disclosed that she’s endured a “tough week” after fracturing her foot, rendering her unable to grace the dance floor. Scheduled to perform alongside her fellow Strictly colleagues on Saturday, Amy had been absent from this series due to a prior cancer diagnosis earlier in the year.

Taking to her Instagram, Amy posted a snapshot of herself sporting a medical boot. Later, she shared an emotive update, expressing, “I’ll drop by to see the team tomorrow. I watched some dancing, which lifted my spirits. I hadn’t smiled since Tuesday, but now I’m smiling again. Witnessing some splendid dancing tonight has been uplifting, and I look forward to continuing over the weekend.”

She expressed immense gratitude for the unwavering support from friends and fans, emphasizing that their encouragement means everything to her. Despite a challenging week, she’s feeling more upbeat now.

Earlier, Amy shared an update about her foot trouble, expressing disappointment as a fractured foot dashed her hopes of dancing in this year’s Strictly Ballroom. Following her battle with cancer, which began in April when she discovered a lump before her honeymoon, she underwent a mastectomy and later had to endure chemotherapy upon discovering cancer in other parts of her body.

Throughout her journey, marked by chemotherapy sessions and the decision to shave her hair, there were additional hurdles. Amy was hospitalized due to an infection and subsequent septic shock, a complication following one of her chemotherapy rounds. However, she has bravely completed her chemotherapy treatment, acknowledging it as her most challenging experience yet.

Reflecting on the past few months, Amy marvels at how her body coped with the physical and mental strain. From the initial diagnosis to a mastectomy, daily hormone injections, a bout of Crohn’s disease, and the hardships of chemotherapy—including sepsis, blood clots, hair loss, and other physical changes—she’s been through an incredibly tough journey.

Despite the hardships, she’s immensely grateful for the support received and looks forward to slipping back into her dancing shoes, eager to return to the training room.
