BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has officially exchanged vows with her partner, Steve Randall, on Wednesday (27 December).

The news of their wedding, held in Buckinghamshire, was unveiled on BBC Breakfast this Friday. “It was the most exquisite, romantic, and private wedding. We are both overjoyed,” expressed Kirkwood, aged 61.

This marks the presenter’s second marriage subsequent to her divorce from cricket player Jimmy Kirkwood in 2008, after an 18-year marriage.

In a post on the platform previously known as Twitter, the meteorologist extended gratitude to well-wishers and conveyed that she and Steve are “brimming with happiness.”

“Many thanks for all the wonderful messages. Our day was simply perfect—a small, romantic, and intimate wedding that will forever stay with us. We’re overflowing with happiness. It wasn’t a ‘secret’ wedding, just a private affair,” she shared.

Fans and friends swiftly extended their congratulations to Kirkwood across social media.

The BBC Breakfast account conveyed their best wishes to the couple, stating: “Congratulations Carol & Steve. Best wishes from your #BBCBreakfast colleagues.”

The BBC Breakfast X account shared photos of Carol Kirkwood and her partner on their wedding day, showcasing Kirkwood in a boat neckline satin dress—a timeless style reminiscent of the Duchess of Sussex—and holding a bouquet of long-stemmed roses.

Colleague Dan Walker extended his congratulations: “Congratulations to Carol and Steve. Steve is one very fortunate gentleman, and Carol is the best of us all. She is kind, caring, brilliant at her job, and a wonderful person to be around. I wish them every happiness in their new life together.”

Carol Vorderman also sent warm wishes: “Huge congratulations GG… you are beautiful inside and out. Wishing you both every happiness as ever.”

Rylan Clark from ITV This Morning chimed in with his congratulations: “Congrats to you both, Carol.”

Before their marriage, Kirkwood spoke fondly of her now-husband Randall, praising him as “extremely handsome” and highlighting his knack for always bringing laughter into her life.

Carol and Steve got enagaged in 2022

In an interview with Prima magazine, she shared, “He always prepares a cup of tea for me before I head to work in the morning, which feels incredibly romantic – at 2.45am.”

She disclosed that he often leaves sweet love notes for her return, which, in her view, are more precious than a million red roses. Speaking to the publication, she proclaimed, “He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me, without a doubt.”

The BBC Breakfast presenter announced her engagement to Randall, aged 48, in May 2022. During a weather forecast, she proudly displayed her engagement ring, recounting the surprise proposal: “We went for a picnic, and I had no clue. The weather was splendid, we were chatting… he was rummaging in his pocket, and out came a ring. At first, I thought he was joking.”

Randall, a former police officer, and she were reportedly friends before their romantic relationship blossomed. “We were friends before things turned romantic, so we knew each other quite well before dating,” she shared with Closer magazine. “It was nice because it simply evolved. Neither of us was seeking romance, but there it was.”

Reflecting on her upcoming marriage, she expressed surprise, saying, “Who would have thought that at this stage in life, I’d be getting married again? I certainly didn’t.”

The Scottish presenter, who participated in the 2015 series of BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing alongside Pasha Kovalev, had previously kept her partner’s identity and surname private. She explained during promotions for her debut romantic novel, ‘Under A Greek Moon,’ in 2021, “He’s a secret boyfriend because I never discuss him.”

“I feel that, through my job, I’m in the public eye, and I’m content with that. However, my partner, family, and friends aren’t, so I respect their privacy immensely. I rarely talk about them, except to mention that my partner is stunning, humorous, and brings me immense joy.”

She added, “He wakes up at a quarter to three in the morning just to make me a cup of tea before heading to work – if that’s not romantic, I don’t know what is.”
