BBC Radio presenter Jason Rosam bids farewell after an impressive 16-year tenure with the broadcaster. Renowned for helming BBC London’s Early Breakfast show, he dutifully delivered the day’s updates from the crack of dawn, starting at 5 am.

His final broadcast aired on Friday, 5th January, marking an emotional departure. Expressing his gratitude to listeners, Jason took to social media, sharing a heartfelt message confirming his exit from the BBC.

On Instagram, he reflected, “From the day I first stepped into 35 Marylebone High Street in 2007 to my departure from Broadcasting House as a BBC member tomorrow, it’s been an extraordinary journey. He reflected, “When I look back at these photos from years past, memories rush in—of the remarkable individuals I’ve had the honour to collaborate with and the stories I’ve covered. From mayoral and general elections to royal weddings, births, deaths, and jubilees, the Olympics and Paralympics, to the multiple terror attacks, stabbings, murders, and the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower Fire.”

“Above all, it’s the genuine Londoners I encountered, who shared their incredible tales on air, that will stay with me. The BBC has been a place where I’ve forged lifelong friendships. Your wonderfulness is truly appreciated. This isn’t farewell, but rather a ‘see you later.'”

Well-wishers poured in to express their sentiments, one stating, “Speaking for all of us early risers, it’s been an absolute delight listening to you!! Much love to the late Patrick (we all adored him), husband Neil, Trish, Ethel, and the many fantastic listeners! You’ll be missed xx”.

Another person wrote, “Jason, it’s the end of an era. You’ll be missed by many x.”

A different listener remarked, “It’s another blow to the once great station. Your presence always brought a smile to my face, and I loved the banter with Feltzy. Onwards and upwards!”

Expressing dismay, a fourth listener added, “Jason, nooooooo! I’m absolutely gutted to lose you on the early show. You’re absolutely brilliant, and I’ll miss the cheekiness immensely. Onwards and upwards, my dear xx.”

Jason’s show on BBC London has been discontinued as part of significant changes made by the BBC to its local radio stations. Several BBC radio personalities have resigned from their roles at the broadcaster in recent months.

Local radio presenter Alex Hall, aged 74, declared her exit from Radio Tees after an extensive 35-year tenure in January. She conveyed, “This morning marked my final broadcast on BBC local radio. Although my regular programme concluded in November, I willingly filled in for some slots when asked. It merely postponed the inevitable. Today, I must accept the end of an era. 35 years devoted to local and regional radio, now concluded. Quite astonishing.”
