Awkward Moment on BBC Breakfast as Guest Reveals PM’s Ban on Conversation with Host
BBC Breakfast hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty conducted an interview with former Conservative MP Nadine Dorries, during which she revealed a significant revelation that took them by surprise.

On Thursday, November 9, the former Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport engaged in a discussion with hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty on the programme. Nadine appeared on the show to promote her new book, titled “The Plot: The Political Assassination of Boris Johnson,” and also provided further insight into him.
During her appearance, she disclosed that the former Prime Minister had explicitly requested her not to divulge certain information to presenter Charlie during her previous visit to the show.
Nadine went on to share that she became anxious during their last conversation, fearing that the hosts had overheard her conversation with Boris before their scheduled interview, as she was wearing a microphone.
At the conclusion of the interview, Nadine inquired, “Will this one make waves, Charlie?” Naga responded, “Well, that’s up to the internet.”
Charlie chimed in, “Is there anything else on your mind?” To which Nadine replied, “I’d rather this than the last Zoom call.” Charlie then inquired about her previous experience, prompting Nadine to disclose that she was prohibited from sharing any information with the hosts during her last appearance on the show.
Nadina explained, “The crucial point I neglected to mention is that the initial query you posed was, ‘Have you conversed with the Prime Minister?’ Barely 30 seconds prior, I had just concluded a call with him. I assumed you had overheard me, which unsettled me. Thus, when you inquired, ‘Have you spoken to the Prime Minister?’, I was taken aback, wondering if he had possibly overheard our conversation. In my surprise, I promptly terminated the call, not realising the microphones were still active. That’s the sequence of events.”
Charlie inquired, “You know I have to ask now. What was the essence of that discussion?”
Nadine admitted, “He cautioned me, ‘You’re about to appear on breakfast television. Refrain from mentioning anything to Charlie.'”
