Our beloved presenting duo, Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, have been central to the success of ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!’ since its 2002 inception. Despite gracing our screens for two decades, viewers have pondered why the hosts consistently conceal their watches.

Speculation among viewers has revolved around the purpose behind wearing the watches while keeping the time obscured. Some have suggested this practice prevents light reflections that could affect the cameras. However, as the nightly live segments unfold on the popular ITV show, the true reason has been unveiled—and it’s not quite what many might anticipate.

After an “I’m A Celeb” viewer took to Twitter and directed a query at X, seeking the genuine reason behind a certain aspect of the show, Ant responded via their joint account, boasting a massive 6.7 million followers, with a cryptic “Who’s gonna explain????? A”. Subsequently, an avid fan clarified the matter, stating, “So the celebs/camp mates don’t see the time.”

This triggered a cascade of inquiries from other viewers, asking, “Why aren’t they permitted to see the date or time?” Another questioned, “What significance does it hold if they see the time? Is it that they completely lose track of time during their tenure there?”

It’s believed that this practice mirrors a strategy akin to Love Island’s approach, where producers deliberately conceal real-time information from contestants within the villa. This tactic is aimed at ensuring participants immerse themselves fully in the experience, losing all semblance of time. Former Love Islanders Danny and Jourdan shared with Capital their experience of the altered clocks, confessing it rendered them “essentially clueless”.

Danny remarked, ‘There have been nights when we’ve lost track of time entirely, finding ourselves getting into bed as the sun rises… Then, just a few hours later, it’s already dinner time.’

Meanwhile, Frankie Bridge, a participant on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ in 2019, recently engaged with fans, offering insights into the behind-the-scenes experiences. Through an Instagram interaction, the 32-year-old ‘The Saturdays’ star disclosed intriguing details about the show, addressing queries about how female contestants manage their menstrual cycles while in the jungle.

During a discussion about her time at Wales’ Gwrych Castle on the 2021 UK series, prompted by a fan’s question, Frankie was asked whether there were specific provisions made for individuals during their menstrual cycles.

The Loose Women personality responded, saying, “There were many questions about periods. I was apprehensive about experiencing it in the camp! I believe most of us felt the same way!” Frankie, who surpassed her husband Wayne’s position in ‘I’m A Celeb’ when she secured third place in the series, clarified, “No exceptions were made.”

“However, environmentally friendly sanitary products are provided, and there’s always a medic present on-site. So, if anyone experienced discomfort, assistance was readily available.”
