Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell passes away at the age of 29

 

The 29-year-old reality star, known for her appearances on ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’ and ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ alongside her mother, Mama June Shannon, and younger sister Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson, received a diagnosis of stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January. Her mother has now confirmed her passing on Sunday (09.12.23).

Mama June, aged 44, shared on Instagram on Sunday (10.12.23) a family photo along with a heartfelt message: “It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of @annamarie35. She peacefully passed away at 11:12 PM in my home last night.

“For 10 months, she fought valiantly. She departed surrounded by family, and we’ll continue to provide more details as we receive them today.

“The news comes just two days after June requested ‘thoughts and prayers’ from fans.

She expressed, ‘We ask for your prayers during this challenging time. We deeply appreciate all the support and will keep you updated whenever possible. Your thoughts and prayers mean a lot #CancerSucks.’ (sic)

In July, June confirmed Anna’s terminal cancer diagnosis, stating, “It’s been an emotional rollercoaster for me. It’s constantly on my mind.

“We know it’s terminal.

“She’s in stage 4. Remission isn’t an option.

“We’ve all come to terms with that, so I advise taking it one day at a time, because you never know.”

She and her daughter Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird, 23, also discussed how Anna’s children, Kaitlyn (10) and Kylie (7), were handling the situation.

Lauryn shared, “The 10-year-old is aware, but I don’t think she fully comprehends.

“She knows that Mum is unwell and might not be here for a while… She’s mature for her age due to being around older people.”

June added, “Kaitlyn was always close to Anna, but now she sticks by her side everywhere. I understand because she’s worried that if Anna leaves, she might not be at home when she returns.
