In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Ash Palmisciano, who plays Matty Barton in Emmerdale, hinted at an upcoming “major” twist set for this Christmas. He revealed that recent developments will pave the way for a significant storyline, involving a multitude of characters. This all stems from the aftermath of recent intense events, where Mackenzie Boyd’s life-or-death decision teetered on the edge of tragedy.

While Mackenzie’s choice to save his ex-wife Charity Dingle over his fiancée and the mother of his child, Chloe Harris, was not entirely his fault, it certainly sparked intrigue. The trio found themselves entangled in a car crash, culminating in a harrowing descent off a cliff with Chloe trapped inside.

This week, fans witnessed Chloe’s sister, Amy Wyatt, confront the chilling reality that Mack had not only betrayed Chloe with Charity, but also essentially abandoned her to her fate. Amy has since made it abundantly clear that she intends to expose Mack and hold him accountable.

In advance of these unfolding events, Ash, the actor portraying Matty, dropped a tantalizing hint that a character will be drawn into the overarching narrative, setting the stage for grand festive scenes later in the year. All signs point to Amy, suggesting more gripping drama is on the horizon.

Amy and Chloe face a pivotal decision – will they seek retribution against Mack or unveil his deeds to the village this festive season? Mack’s sister, Moira Dingle, is already privy to his actions, potentially leaving her son Matty torn between supporting his uncle Mack and his fiancée Amy when the truth unfurls.

Ash shared with us, “The impact on the village will be substantial, and I genuinely mean that. We’re approaching Christmas, currently in the midst of filming. Post the crash, something unforeseen occurs, involving a character currently uninvolved in the plot. There’s a substantial involvement of fan-favourite characters in this narrative, and Christmas is set to be monumental. There’s a wealth of compelling content, with significant figures entangled in the web of events.”

“I’m genuinely looking forward to New Year with Amy and Matty. Matty’s mother, Moira, places a strong emphasis on family. She persuades Matty to prioritise his family, but he’s in a bit of a bind since Amy is his fiancée.

“He comes across some information, and now he’s torn between sharing it with his family or standing by his girlfriend. It’s been quite the conundrum.”

If he’s contemplating keeping something from Moira, possibly related to Amy, could this signal the beginning of a revenge scheme?

Many viewers seem to think so. One Twitter user commented, “I’m relieved this has surfaced now, and Mack will realize he’s been misbehaving – rather than on Christmas Day. What remains to be seen is, who or what will face the consequences in Emmerdale this holiday season, hmm.”

Another concurred, “I believe Chloe is saying this just to divert suspicion from herself as she plans her retaliation.” A third chimed in, “So can Chloe and Amy concoct a plan to give Mackenzie a proper send-off over the cliff now, please?” A fourth viewer asserted, “There’s a determination to ignite Chloe for the ultimate revenge plot. She’s definitely not going to rest until Chloe initiates revenge against Mackenzie and Charity!”
