Amanda Holden Discloses that Husband Chris Hughes Holds Permission to Date Former Strictly Star
Television and radio personality Amanda Holden has revealed that her husband, Chris Hughes, harbours a significant admiration for former Strictly Come Dancing star Rachel Riley. Holden disclosed that Hughes jokingly claims to have a 'free pass' to go on a date with Riley.
Amanda Holden, the 52-year-old presenter, disclosed on her Heart Radio programme that her husband, Chris Hughes, jokingly holds a “free pass” to go on a date with former Strictly Come Dancing star Rachel Riley. This revelation came during a conversation with comedian Joe Wilkinson, renowned for his appearances on Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Amanda playfully referred to Rachel as a “tricky character,” but quickly added, “No, she’s delightful.” The judge of Britain’s Got Talent then confessed that her husband Chris has a significant crush on Rachel.
“You know, that’s my husband’s little fantasy. He’s quite taken with Rachel Riley. I’d let him invite her out… for a coffee.”
When Joe inquired for more specifics regarding Amanda’s “pink pass” and whether there’d be room for smooching and cuddling if Chris were to go on a date with Rachel, Amanda playfully responded, “You work out the maths,” before inquiring, “But would you say she’s as attractive in person?”
Amanda was confident that Chris and Rachel’s paths would never intersect in reality, but Joe speculated it could happen given their shared television industry. The couple has been happily married for 15 years, but they didn’t commence their romantic relationship until a year after their initial encounter in Los Angeles.
In 2008, the lovebirds exchanged vows, with their daughter Lexi present to witness the occasion. Amanda has previously discussed the key to a happy marriage, telling HELLO! that sharing laughter has been instrumental in their enduring love. “Chris is very witty and leans towards levity. We can find humour in any situation, be it the best or darkest times of our lives,” she affectionately remarked.
Amanda affectionately joked that he had a knack for being “a bit rubbish at romance,” but she held great admiration for his steadfastness in handling practical matters like tending to her car and helping her unwind. She fondly described him as a “proper bloke” who looked out for her. “I’m a strong, opinionated woman, but he helps steer the Mandy ship,” she lovingly remarked.
Earlier this year, Amanda shared with OK! that the key to a contented marriage was maintaining a mutual attraction. She confessed that she still found Chris as alluring as the day they first met. “We’ll be having dinner in a restaurant, he’ll excuse himself, and I’ll look up to see a man and think, ‘He’s rather good-looking!’ Then it’ll hit me, ‘Goodness, that’s my husband!’ I still fancy him,” she enthused.
