Former Strictly Come Dancing star Amanda Abbington has expressed her support for a co-star in just three words.
Amanda made a sudden departure from the popular BBC dance competition last week citing “medical reasons”. Despite being granted a pass for the previous week, she chose to exit the show before the live broadcast on Saturday, October 21.
Following her departure, Amanda maintained a low profile on social media, while her Strictly colleagues showered her with tributes. Professional dancers such as Jowita Przystal and Gorka Márquez extended their warm wishes to the 49-year-old Sherlock star, saying, “We will miss you!”
Abbington had been partnered with the Italian dancer Giovanni Pernice, who was taken aback by her sudden exit. He promptly paid tribute to his dance partner on Instagram when the news became public, sending his heartfelt regards. As of now, Amanda has not interacted with or responded to the post.
She has recently ended her silence on social media, expressing gratitude towards the numerous production staff and individuals involved in the show. Additionally, she extended her thanks to the judges for their time throughout her tenure on the programme.
Despite her departure from the show, Amanda has remained engaged, watching and sharing her thoughts alongside the viewing audience. On the latest Halloween episode this Saturday (October 28), Amanda shared her impressions of co-star Adam Thomas’ performance, commending him for “nailing it”.
In addition to the former Emmerdale star, Amanda commended Annabel Croft’s routine. In a separate post, she described it as “beautiful – simply beautiful”.
Since departing the show, Amanda was spotted in a snap posted by her close friend and actor Simon Pegg. In an adorable picture of the duo, Simon and Amanda were nestled together, grinning from ear to ear. Simon captioned the post: “Friends for 25 years. Love you.”
Quick to respond, Amanda took to the comments section to express her fondness for her mate: “I love you too, dear friend. Thank you for an incredible 25 years.” She has also been sharing fresh snapshots with her devoted fans since her time on the show.
In one image she shared, she playfully teased her fiancé and her beloved canine companion, captioning it: “Find someone who gazes at you the way Maple gazes at Jonathan.”
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman both paid tribute to Amanda at the outset of the show on Saturday. Claudia extended best wishes to the actress on behalf of the show, stating: “We are sending you all our love.”
