Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson has tenderly honoured her late sister Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell.

The 29-year-old reality star, known for her appearances alongside her mother, Mama June Shannon, and younger sister Alana on ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’ and ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’, was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January. Sadly, her mother confirmed her passing on Sunday (09.12.23).

Alana, 18, is devastated by the loss of her elder sibling but finds solace in the knowledge that Anna is no longer in pain.

Starting on Instagram, she wrote: “This is a post I never wanted to have to write.”

She continued, “Last night, we surrounded Anna with love and assured her it was okay to let go. Unfortunately, around 11pm, Anna took her final breath. She was in immense pain, but now, as a family, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace.

“I’m lost for words; my heart is shattered. Witnessing my 29-year-old sister fight this terrible disease over the past year has been incredibly challenging. Anna was a fighter, and she continues to be one. Lord, please embrace her two children and our family during the difficult days ahead. (sic)”

Alana is grateful she was by Anna’s side when she passed. Anna leaves behind her children, Kaitlyn, 10, and seven-year-old Kylie. Alana vowed to ensure that Anna’s memory lives on eternally.

She added, “I’m thankful you waited until I was home to take your last breath! I wished you could have seen me graduate from college, but I know you’ll forever cheer me on from heaven! We’ll all ensure your legacy endures. And I promise to always celebrate our birthdays as if you never left! (sic)”

Ending the post, she wrote, “The sky looks different today. Anna, we’ll always love you. Your departure has deeply affected me, but I know you’re in a better place now, free from pain forever! (sic)”
