Hollywood actor Jason Momoa faced criticism for what was perceived as a dismissive gesture towards TV chef Nigella Lawson during his appearance on The One Show. The 44-year-old joined the BBC programme alongside Northern Irish actor James Nesbitt, 58, and 63-year-old Nigella on Monday evening (December 11). While discussing the much-anticipated release of Aquaman 2, Jason seemed enthusiastic about the sequel.

However, some viewers were taken aback when it appeared that he excluded Nigella from a part of the conversation by turning away from her on the sofa. Fans were swift to comment on what they perceived as rude behaviour due to his distant body language towards her.

Venting their sentiments on social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter), viewers expressed their disappointment. One fan tweeted, “Jason Momoa kept his back turned to Nigella the entire time on the sofa… incredibly rude.”

A comment was echoed, expressing concern about Jason Momoa’s perceived rude body language, specifically when he turned his back to Nigella. Another person was agitated, noting Momoa’s apparent disregard, particularly when James Nesbitt was speaking, leaving his back to Nigella Lawson.

One viewer inquired about the reason behind Jason Momoa’s apparent disregard for Nigella. Meanwhile, another individual, upon tuning into the television, was curious about Momoa’s deliberate choice to sit with his back facing Nigella Lawson.

Jason’s latest film is set to debut in the UK on December 20, 2023. In preparation for the release of the upcoming DC film, Jason has participated in several media appearances.

However, despite the excitement surrounding the sequel to the 2018 movie, it has faced controversy due to actress Amber Heard’s reduced role. Fans of the film have raised concerns about whether this decision was influenced by a petition initiated by supporters of Johnny Depp. The petition, which gathered over 4 million signatures on Change.org, aimed to remove Heard from the franchise altogether.

Despite Director James Wan publicly refuting the claims, he clarified that the focus of the DC sequel was always intended to centre more on Aquaman and his half-brother Orm uniting forces, rather than emphasising the partnership between Aquaman and Heard’s character Mera, as seen in the initial film.

Following the release of the first film, Heard became entangled in a contentious defamation case with her ex-husband Johnny Depp. Last year, a jury ruled in Depp’s favour, awarding him 10.3 million dollars (£8.43 million) for damage to his reputation.
