Ian Pepperell, aged 57, has passed away, confirmed by the BBC. The actor succumbed after a prolonged illness, as reported by the corporation.

Pepperell graced the screens in over 400 episodes of The Archers from 2007 to 2023. His repertoire extended to roles in popular shows such as ITV’s cop drama The Bill and the BBC soap EastEnders.

Jeremy Howe, the Editor of The Archers, commemorated Pepperell, remarking, “Ian embodied the quintessential Archers actor – he thrived in the ensemble, cherished the camaraderie of the Green Room, and possessed an impeccably honed vocal prowess seemingly effortlessly.

“Much like the finest radio actors, he possessed an innate ability to adapt swiftly within a scene, demonstrating remarkable versatility.”
