“The Crown” actor Dominic West opened up about his estranged relationship with Prince Harry, revealing that they’re no longer in contact after an incident where he “spoke too freely” during a press event.

The 54-year-old, known for portraying King Charles III on the popular Netflix series, disclosed that he and Prince Harry were once close friends. However, their friendship soured due to an unintentional slip-up he made during a joint press conference. Their bond strengthened during their participation in the charity event, Walking With the Wounded, back in 2013. Both were involved in a challenging Antarctic expedition alongside injured military veterans.

During an interview on “Sunday Morning” on Times Radio, Dominic candidly discussed the rift with the Duke of Sussex, admitting, “We lost touch because I made a comment during a press conference that I shouldn’t have, and unfortunately, we didn’t reconnect after that.”

Host McCann probed for further details, prompting Dominic to vaguely recall the press conference. He conceded, “I think I was asked about our activities, what we did to celebrate when we arrived, and perhaps I divulged too much.”

A year following their joint expedition, they reconvened for a press conference in January 2014 to recount their experiences. At that time, the former Les Misérables star was excited to share about his time with Prince Harry and praised the significant role the former Royal played within the team.

Dominic remarked, “[Harry] was an integral part of the team,” and went on to say, “He seemed particularly adept at constructing latrines. He built an impressive fortified structure using blocks to shield from the wind, complete with a holder for toilet paper.”

Almost ten years on, Dominic finds himself in another unexpected tie to Prince Harry, portraying his father in the acclaimed series ‘The Crown’. Dominic assumed the role from Josh O’Connor in 2022 for the fifth season of the historical drama.

Despite their estrangement, Dominic missed the chance to seek advice from the Duke of Sussex prior to his portrayal.

However, while Dominic couldn’t discuss the show with his former friend, Prince Harry openly admitted his regular viewership of the series. During a guest appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the father of two revealed his habit of keeping abreast with the show and ensuring its historical accuracy by “face-checking” new episodes.
