Ahead of the Strictly Come Dancing final this weekend, Bobby Brazier has received discouraging news, as bookmakers anticipate that he may not clinch the coveted Glitterball Trophy, losing out to a fellow contestant.

Despite being a frontrunner on the BBC reality series for weeks, the EastEnders star’s prospects of winning have dimmed following his appearance in the Bottom Two alongside Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe last Sunday. Bobby’s consistent high scores and captivating stage presence alongside partner Dianne Buswell have been overshadowed, shifting attention to Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, who are now being favoured for victory after a remarkable season.

According to Alex Apati from Ladbrokes, “All indications suggest a promising night for Ellie this weekend… she’s been leading in the betting for a considerable period, and anything other than a win for the Corrie star would be a significant upset now.” Presently, the odds stand at 1/10 for Ellie Leach, with Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin at 8/1. Bobby Brazier is currently considered the least likely to win, with odds standing at 16/1 according to bookmakers.

Not everyone holds the belief that the 20-year-old will face failure this weekend. Some followers of Strictly Come Dancing have accused the judges of showing bias towards Bobby. This contention arose after his Quickstep routine to Mack the Knife earned a score of 38 on Saturday. Despite this high score, not all viewers concurred with the judges’ assessment. Many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their objections.

“I’d forgotten how generously Bobby was scored for his quickstep, and now I’m furious,” exclaimed one person, while another commented, “So everyone else was underscored except Bobby, who was given more than deserved. Hmm….”

A third individual questioned the enthusiastic feedback from the experts, stating, “Are the judges alright? Bobby was excessively scored; there’s no way it deserved 10s and was the best quickstep of the series. I don’t think it was the series’ best, but it certainly exceeded my expectations, so credit to him.”

In the forthcoming final, contestants are set to perform three dances: one chosen by the judges, another by the couples themselves, and a third ‘showdance’. Bobby and Dianne will reprise their Romeo & Juliet-inspired Samba to Young Hearts Run Free, having earned a respectable 32 from the judges during its initial performance. For the Couple’s Choice dance, the adept soap star will perform This Woman’s Work, a piece originally dedicated to his late mother, Jade Goody. Lastly, Bobby’s showdance will feature a medley of songs from the La La Land soundtrack.
