The update arrives a year subsequent to his departure from EastEnders, where he portrayed the much-adored Queen Vic landlord, Mick Carter. Mick mysteriously vanished at sea during last year’s festive season.

Mick’s noble motive for braving the perilous waves was to rescue his beloved soulmate, known as L or Linda Carter (portrayed by Kellie Bright). This courageous act transpired after a pregnant Janine Butcher (played by Charlie Brooks) drove both Mick and Linda into the water.

Following Linda’s instructions, Mick prioritised saving scheming Janine and their unborn child before venturing back into the ocean to retrieve his true love. Unbeknownst to him, Linda had already reached safety on the shore.

Recent confirmation has emerged that the 2004 sports drama, The Football Factory, will make a resounding return next year to mark its 20th anniversary. And indeed, Danny will be making a comeback.

“The news is out,” he began in his latest Instagram post.

“I’m returning to collaborate with director Nick Love on The Football Factory project, and I can’t wait. The film’s title is ‘Bang on the Marching Powder’, by the way.”

He continued, “Filming begins on January 15th, and expect more crime, drugs, and intense violence.”

“And I’m sure you’ll love it, so have a merry Christmas.”

While fans rejoiced at Danny’s confirmation, others couldn’t resist asking the actor for one thing.

“Fantastic news! Please, one day, please come back to Eastenders. It’s just not the same without you,” one person replied.

Another individual added, “I thought you were going to say back on EastEnders 😢.”

Danny’s departure from the soap marked the end of a highly popular era for EastEnders, leaving fans devastated to bid farewell to such an iconic character.

At the age of 46, Danny later elaborated on his decision to leave the show, citing a decline in quality as a significant factor.

“In the initial years, we excelled,” he remarked about the earlier storylines. “It was impactful. Viewers paid more attention to us than to these frustrating politicians.”
