BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Nigel Harman has regrettably pulled out from this season of the show due to an injury.

The 50-year-old ex-Eastenders actor has teamed up with Katya Jones this season and emerged as strong contenders for victory. Scheduled for this evening, the duo was set to perform a Charleston routine to “Step in Time” from Mary Poppins as part of Musicals Week.

Mere hours before the show’s commencement, the BBC has verified his departure from the competition, stating that he will not be making a return.

The Mirror has relayed confirmation from a BBC representative regarding Nigel’s departure. According to the spokesperson, Nigel sustained an injury, rendering him unable to participate in tonight’s show and necessitating his withdrawal from Strictly.

A social media post on the show’s official Instagram page extended well wishes for Harman’s swift recuperation. The message expressed that the pair will be dearly missed by the entire Strictly family.

Nigel and Katya made an appearance on ‘Strictly It Takes Two’ last night, discussing the much-anticipated Musicals Week alongside presenter and fellow Strictly luminary Fleur East.

Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support from his fans, Nigel remarked, “It’s quite overwhelming that people are taking the time to vote for us.”

The former soap actor has consistently achieved high scores throughout the weeks with guidance from his professional dance partner, Katya. However, his performance last weekend, a Rumba to Celine Dion’s ‘It’s All Coming Back To Me Now,’ drew low scores from the judges, placing him second to last on the leaderboard.

Despite his background in musical theatre, Nigel is yet to secure a perfect score of 10 from any of the judges this series.

Reflecting on his choreographic journey with Katya, Nigel highlighted, “Throughout the routine, our hands and bodies are in constant communication. It’s essential to be completely synchronized with your partner. One of my cherished moments each week is when we stand on the edge of the dancefloor, hold hands, and step out together.”

With only four celebrities remaining in the competition – actress Ellie Leach, tennis star Annabel Croft, theatre and TV star Layton Williams, and EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier – the competition intensifies as Musicals Week approaches.
