Dana Carvey, renowned for his role in ‘Wayne’s World’, has announced the tragic passing of his eldest son, Dex Carvey, at the age of 32. The 68-year-old actor confirmed that Dex succumbed to an accidental drug overdose, expressing profound grief alongside his wife Paula.

In a shared statement on Instagram, Dana and Paula conveyed their heartbreak: “Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old.”

Dex, a multi-talented individual with skills in music, art, filmmaking, and comedy, lived a vibrant life according to his parents. The couple shared their sentiments on Dex’s love for life and how he infused joy into everything. They emphasised his passion for family, friends, and his girlfriend, Kaylee.

Describing Dex as a “beautiful person,” the grieving parents highlighted the treasure of his handmade birthday cards and expressed their enduring sorrow: “We will miss him forever.”

Dana and Paula, who have another son, Thomas, aged 30, extended their thoughts and prayers to those grappling with addiction, urging support for individuals in such situations.

Law enforcement sources revealed that Dex passed away on the evening of Wednesday, 15th November 2023. Despite paramedics’ efforts to revive him, Dex was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dex, following in his father’s footsteps as a stand-up comedian, had opened for Dana in the 2016 Netflix special ‘Straight White Male’. Dana Carvey memorialised their collaboration with a poignant Instagram post, captioned, “Dex and me working together. What a joy.”
