Robbie Williams certainly lived up to his rebellious image as he rose to stardom with Take That in the 1990s. The singer openly identifies as a libertine and has acknowledged struggling with a penchant for “encounters with strangers” during the peak of his celebrity.

Having claimed to have lost count of the number of women he’s been involved with, the now 49-year-old father-of-four boldly asserted that he had intimate relations with all but one of the Spice Girls. His romantic history also includes an engagement to a member of All Saints and purported connections with multiple Hollywood A-listers.

In his autobiographies, Williams has candidly shared details about relationships, including an affair with his female drug dealer and actively seeking out strippers in clubs. During a podcast discussion with his wife of 12 years, Ayda Field, Robbie admitted, “Ayda mentions that every time we switch on the TV, there’s a woman I’ve been involved with, and it’s true. Fortunately, she possesses a great sense of humour. What occurred before we met doesn’t pique her interest.”

In the Nineties, Robbie engaged in a brief romance with Geri Halliwell, renowned as Ginger Spice. To shield their affair from prying eyes, Robbie recounted on The Graham Norton Show that he once discreetly transported Geri out of his London residence in a holdall bag, outsmarting eager paparazzi. However, Geri isn’t the sole Spice Girl linked to Robbie.

He was also romantically associated with Mel C, as revealed in her book, Who I Am, where she clarified that they dated but never progressed beyond that. In 2016, Robbie attempted to diminish rumours of liaisons with four out of the five Spice Girls, asserting it was a jest that spiralled out of control.

During a Take That tour preceding “Back For Good,” he quipped, “I am very fortunate to have been in Take That and in four out of five of the Spice Girls.” Robbie later asserted that Mel B was the sole Spice Girl he hadn’t been involved with and was “the only Spice Girl I ever wanted to sleep with.”

In response, Mel B retorted, “He actually apologised to me for all that mess, claiming he had apparently been involved with all five Spice Girls – he wishes! I was the one he never did. He’s a friend of mine. Yuck! He had been with my friends. I don’t want sloppy seconds.”

Robbie has openly acknowledged grappling with drug addiction in the past, engaging in the excessive use of substances such as cocaine, heroin, speed, acid, and substantial quantities of prescription drugs. Although he has successfully maintained sobriety through multiple rehab stints, he candidly confessed to having been involved with his drug supplier. This revelation came to light during a discussion on their podcast, “At Home With The Williamses,” in December 2020, when Robbie’s wife, Ayda, confronted him about the incident, revealing that it occurred just before their inaugural date.

Ayda remarked, “You had recently been intimate with your supplier, who had just delivered drugs, right before our first date. How romantic.” Robbie responded, “Yes. People often picture drug dealers as men, but in this case, she wasn’t.”

Betrothed to a Saint

Romance blossomed between Robbie and All Saint Nicole Appleton when they first crossed paths on Top Of The Pops in 1997. Despite a few breakups, Robbie eventually proposed after being smitten by love. However, their relationship took a turn when Nicole unexpectedly became pregnant, leading to a difficult decision to undergo an abortion. Nicole later revealed feeling pressured by her record company during that time.

Recalling the moment she informed Robbie about the pregnancy, Nicole shared, “He placed his hands on my belly and told me, ‘This baby is saving my life.'” Despite the emotional toll it took on them, Nicole expressed deep regret and suicidal feelings after the abortion. Robbie, although devastated by the decision, supported Nicole’s choice to open up about it in her autobiography.

In the realm of Hollywood A-listers, Robbie’s romantic associations have extended to several notable names. Among them is Nicole Kidman, with whom he collaborated on the 2001 single “Somethin’ Stupid.” While rumours circulated about a romantic involvement, neither party confirmed such claims. Additionally, Robbie was linked to Lindsay Lohan after the two developed a friendship – or possibly something more – following their meeting in rehab in 2006.

Cameron Diaz also played a role in Robbie’s romantic life, albeit in an unexpected way. The star of “The Holiday” aided Robbie in getting his act together when it came to winning back his now-wife, Ayda, after the couple experienced three breakups early in their relationship. During a period of separation between Robbie and Ayda, Cameron helped him realise that the relationship wasn’t truly over.

Reflecting on their conversation, Robbie shared, “I started to speak about this incredible person with whom I had just ended a relationship. I was expressing how amazing she was – beautiful, smart, funny. Cameron Diaz remarked, ‘It doesn’t sound like that one’s over,’ and in that moment, the universe seemed to signal, ‘Go to Ayda, be with her, marry her.'”
