ITV’s popular show “I’m A Celebrity” faces a setback as soap star Alan Halsall, known for his role as Tyrone Dobbs in Coronation Street, has had to withdraw just days before the show’s commencement. Halsall recently underwent a significant knee operation and requires some time off for recovery.

The actor, who was anticipated by fans to take on Bushtucker Trials, had to decline the jungle adventure following his ACL ligament surgery last week, which he reported as being “really successful”.

At 41 years old, Halsall sustained the knee injury during exercise, rendering him unable to partake in any sports activities for up to a year. An insider from ITV revealed to the Mirror: “It’s a substantial setback, but it would be reckless for him to travel to Australia, his surgeon would strongly advise against it. Alan must focus on a full recovery, and perhaps he can consider participating next year. It’s truly regrettable because everyone was eagerly anticipating his presence on the show, but sometimes these unforeseen circumstances arise.”

Alan recently underwent a surgical procedure to address his damaged ACL, involving the removal of the affected ligament and its replacement with a tendon from another part of his leg. He shared an image of his bandaged leg on Instagram, accompanied by a message expressing optimism about his recovery journey:

“On Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. I have been told the surgery went really well. I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me but I’m sure with the support of family and friends I’ll get there.”

A spokesperson from Coronation Street confirmed that viewers can expect to see Tyrone on our screens for the remainder of the year. However, after this period, he will be taking a short hiatus. The spokesperson stated:

“Alan will be on screen in the coming weeks as we film two months ahead, and then he’ll be taking a short break whilst he recovers.”

Alan, a father of one, has recently been prioritising his fitness, frequently spotted at the gym and engaging in activities such as weightlifting, hiking, badminton, and cycling.
