EastEnders executives faced a significant breach of security at the BBC One soap when an image of Matt Di Angelo reprising his role as Dean Wicks in the Queen Vic surfaced on social media.
Rumour has it that EastEnders’ notorious bad boy, Dean Wicks, is poised for a return to Walford.
Actor Matt Di Angelo is reportedly making a comeback to the BBC One soap, a staggering seven years after his dramatic departure. His last appearance in Albert Square dates back to 2016, when he was acquitted of the attempted assault on Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons).
As per reports, the star has already filmed scenes slated to air later this year. Producers have been especially keen on keeping his return tightly under wraps, aiming for a surprising jolt for the viewers. However, eagle-eyed soap aficionados have spotted a snapshot on social media that seemingly features Dean back in the Queen Vic.
A source informed The Sun: “Dean epitomises the quintessential villain, so bringing him back was a stroke of brilliance, particularly with all that’s on the horizon this autumn. Then there’s the matter of the major Christmas murder. Could it possibly involve Dean’s presence under the tree?”
“We’re aware that Linda is one of the women involved, and this just adds another name to the mix. It’s an incredibly thrilling period. This revelation follows a prior hint from showrunner Chris Clenshaw about a significant Halloween twist for Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).
He mentioned earlier, ‘Poor Linda is grappling with Halloween this year, as it’s the first one without Mick. Even though she wasn’t with Mick this time last year, Halloween was a special tradition for them, something they shared at the Queen Vic. So, she’s giving it her all, but she’s in for a surprise she didn’t anticipate.'”
Viewers will recall that Dean committed a heinous act by assaulting Linda, the wife of his brother Mick Carter (portrayed by Danny Dyer), in the Queen Vic pub. This led to the deeply distressed mother opening up about her ordeal to her husband on Christmas Day.
Speculation is rife among fans that Dean might be the enigmatic former partner of Gina Knight (played by Francesca Henry), who presently resides in the Vic with her family. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan put forward their theory: “I suspect Cindy will confront Deano upon discovering his actions towards Linda, especially upon learning he’s Gina’s former flame from Spain.”
