Dianne Buswell has opened up about the reason behind her emotional moment on last week’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 34-year-old dancer and her celebrity partner, Bobby Brazier, wowed the judges and earned an impressive 30 points for their Tango to David Bowie’s ‘Fashion’. However, in the post-performance interview, Dianne found it difficult to hold back her tears, causing concern among fans and viewers.

When questioned by show host Claudia Winkleman, Dianne revealed that 20-year-old Bobby had been her “pillar of strength” during what she described as an “emotionally-charged week.”

Now, Dianne, who joined the BBC dancing series in 2017, has shared the heartfelt reason behind her emotional moment with her devoted fans.

She expressed, “I felt it best to be completely honest with all of you. Last week, I received some concerning news about my dad’s health. I won’t delve into specifics, but naturally, it had an impact on me.

“Being far from home and unable to be there for your family during a trying time is undeniably challenging, so I did find last week a bit of a struggle in that regard.”

Dianne’s family had intentions of spending Christmas in the UK and cheering her on in Strictly. However, she confirmed that this plan had changed. Instead, she stated her intention to return to Australia towards the end of the year.

She expressed, “There’s a bit of a road ahead for my dad, but I wholeheartedly believe he’ll be alright, and we’ll all pull through this together.”

She went on to say that she would be “extremely grateful” if fans could spare a “little thought or prayer” for her dad.

Dianne further shared, “My dad is the loveliest, most gentle man you’ll ever meet, and the one thing he truly wants is for me to keep moving forward, to keep dancing my heart out, and to continue doing what I love because that fills him with absolute pride.”
