Actress Emily Oppenheimer, aged 40, issued an apology for referring to a restaurant worker as ‘enormous’ during her appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show back in 2012.

Emily, who is married to The Office star John Krasinski, expressed her shock after the clip resurfaced and gained traction earlier this week, stating, “My jaw was on the floor.”

Reflecting on the interview, the A Quiet Place actress remarked, “I feel compelled to address this directly, as I was truly taken aback watching this clip from twelve years ago.”

“I am deeply regretful for making such an insensitive and hurtful comment, which was completely unrelated to the story I was trying to convey on the talk show,” she continued in a statement provided to People magazine.

“I have always considered myself someone who would never want to cause harm or distress to anyone, so whatever led me to make a remark like this in that moment is beyond my comprehension and goes against everything I believe in.”

“It did indeed occur, and I voiced it, and I deeply regret any pain it may have caused. I was certainly mature enough to understand better.”

Emily made this statement while recounting her experience filming the sci-fi film ‘Looper’, which features Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, in a secluded region of the United States.

The ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ star mentioned that the cast and crew had their meals at the chain restaurant Chili’s due to the absence of other dining options.

Mention of the eatery led Jonathan, aged 62, to observe, “If you visit Chili’s, you can understand why many of our American friends are quite large.”

Emily chimed in, “Well, the girl who served me was quite large.”

The actress from Jungle Cruise offered her apologies following an announcement that she would be stepping back from Hollywood to spend more time with her children. Emily shares two daughters, Hazel (nine) and Violet (seven), with John, her husband of thirteen years.

Concerns arose among her fans that she might be leaving acting permanently. In response, she clarified to Deadline: “Honestly, that story was blown out of proportion. I’m simply taking a little break, not quitting Hollywood. I just needed a few months off to be with the kids.”
