The 54-year-old Friends star captured a heartwarming moment with his parent and shared it on his personal social media account this Sunday.

Posing in what seemed to be a homely kitchen, the Hollywood actor mentioned he spent quality time with his father, John, over the weekend.

He accompanied the photo with a caption for his followers, stating, ‘Here’s a snapshot of me and my father John, both enjoying a drink.’

In the family picture, the actor known for his role as Chandler Bing donned a navy polo shirt with short sleeves, paired with loose-fitting navy trousers. He held a glass of a dark beverage, mirroring the one in his father’s hand, while they embraced, capturing this tender moment.

John was donned in a red checkered collared shirt with long sleeves, neatly tucked into cream chinos, secured by a sturdy brown leather belt.

A wide grin adorned his face as he embraced his son, who had recently triumphed over health challenges on his path to sobriety.

Supporters eagerly gathered in the comments section beneath the photograph, sharing their sentiments about the heartwarming family portrait.

One remarked, “Could he be any prouder!!!”, while another observed, “Looks like a proud father to me”.

Some took a nostalgic turn, recalling Matthew’s role as a father on the beloved 90s sitcom. They fondly noted, “Wait! He was Joshua’s dad in the episode where Jennifer was wearing a nightie as a dress!! His best line ‘I like this one, she seems smart’!”

A separate social media account chimed in, saying, “I loved it when your father made an appearance on Friends in season 4. Playing Joshua’s dad.”

Before his stint on Friends, John had already established himself as a distinguished figure, notably as the dashing sailor in the iconic Old Spice fragrance commercials that graced television screens throughout the 1970s and 80s.

Since the release of his memoir “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing” last November, Matthew has become increasingly active on social media, offering glimpses into his newfound sober life.

Within the pages of this immensely popular book, he candidly shared his battle with drug and alcohol addiction, an ordeal that nearly claimed his life. The actor revealed that he was given a mere ‘two percent’ chance of survival after his colon succumbed to the ravages of opioid abuse.

Describing the gravity of his struggle, the esteemed actor disclosed that he underwent a staggering 14 surgeries to rectify the extensive damage to his abdomen.

Additionally, he bravely admitted to seeking treatment in a rehabilitation facility on 15 occasions over the preceding years, all in pursuit of mending his fraught relationship with addiction.
