Speculation arises as Love Island’s Gemma Owen is linked to Welsh rugby star

 

Gemma Owen has ignited rumours of a romance with rugby luminary Louis Rees-Zammit, as keen-eyed fans have observed their frequent interactions on social media.

The 20-year-old Love Island personality and 22-year-old Louis are mutual followers on Instagram, with instances of them liking each other’s posts, fuelling speculation of a potential budding relationship.

Additionally, parallels have been drawn between Louis and Gemma’s former beau, fellow ex-Islander and professional rugby player, Jacques O’Neill, 24. Gemma and Jacques were an item for approximately a year before both joining the Love Island cast in 2022.

Louis, a rugby player for Gloucester and Wales, was previously in a relationship with professional netball player Alicia Scholes, who is the daughter of former England footballer Paul Scholes, aged 48.

On the other hand, Gemma has been linked to several athletes in recent months after her separation from Love Island contestant Luca Bish, aged 24. There were speculations about her growing close to polo player Tommy Severn, with reports suggesting she even travelled to support him during his competitions.

An insider informed The Sun: “Gemma flew to Ibiza to watch Tommy play polo this week. They both posted photos from the same polo club, and they share a genuine passion for horses.”

Last month, there were reports of Gemma being romantically linked with Aadam Hamed, the son of renowned boxer Prince Naseem Hamed. Allegedly, the two were seen sharing a meal at a restaurant in Birmingham in September, although neither confirmed nor denied these accounts.

Gemma, whose father is the former England footballer Michael Owen, gained prominence through her appearance on Love Island in 2022. On the show, she found romance with 24-year-old fishmonger Luca, and they secured the second position, trailing behind winners Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti.

However, once outside the confines of the villa, Gemma and Luca’s relationship proved to be short-lived. After a mere three months, Gemma announced their separation.

Gemma posted a statement on social media confirming their separation, while Luca later expressed that he would have preferred time to “process the break-up” privately.

Taking to Instagram, Gemma conveyed the news, stating: “To all my followers, I wanted to inform you that Luca and I have decided to go our separate ways. It was a difficult choice, but ultimately, it’s what’s best for both of us at this point. Many of you have been with us from the start, and I want to extend my gratitude for your unwavering support as we embark on new chapters.”
