According to West Midlands Police, dry riser valves and copper pipework were taken from properties in Birmingham and are believed to have been sold as scrap metal. These valves are crucial for firefighters in accessing water when dealing with incidents in tower blocks.

The police force released images taken on 5th October from Essington House on Sladefield Road, Ward End. The individual pictured, described as approximately 5 feet 5 inches (165cm) tall and in his mid-50s, was seen wearing a high-visibility jacket.

Authorities have stated that they are collaborating with Birmingham City Council to ascertain those responsible and have heightened patrols in the affected areas.
