Paul Spencer, recognised as nineties pop icon Dario G renowned for his chart-topping track "Sunchyme," has shared an update with his fans regarding his well-being subsequent to a recent diagnosis of cancer.


Renowned nineties pop icon Dario G, celebrated for his chart-topping anthem “Sunchyme,” has shared an update regarding his health following a recent disclosure of his cancer diagnosis.
The artist, also known as Paul Spencer, soared to fame 26 years ago when his 1997 hit claimed the number one spot on the UK Singles chart. Since then, he has maintained a vibrant career, enthralling audiences worldwide with his DJ performances.
Regrettably, at 52 years old, he revealed his diagnosis of stage four rectal cancer through a heartfelt message on Twitter (X) this June, expressing his determination to remain optimistic amidst the challenging news.
Paul has been steadfastly battling this illness and communicated to his fans: “It’s tough to put this into words. I’ve recently learned of my stage 4 rectal cancer diagnosis and a concerning shadow on my liver. Reading that is incredibly tough too, I’m sure.
“However, I’m giving it my all. Staying positive, as I always have. I’ll be consulting the doctors this Friday to discuss the next course of action.”


In an update on his health, the celebrity spoke to The Mirror, expressing that he is progressing positively amidst his chemotherapy treatment.
He conveyed, “I’m doing remarkably well. The chemotherapy and prescribed medication have successfully alleviated the pain, and I believe the chemotherapy is starting to take effect. I anticipate undergoing another scan in approximately a month, likely around Christmas.”


“Indeed, my Christmas gift this year is a photoshoot featuring yet another CT or MRI scan. Recently, I underwent a brain scan due to emerging issues stemming from the chemotherapy.
The musician further elaborated on another repercussion, noting alterations in his sense of taste alongside an eye problem he has encountered.”
Paul, a former member of the band Dario G, which shared his stage name, delved into his resilient mindset, emphasising the importance of not squandering life’s opportunities.”


He urged, “Let’s use our time while our hearts still beat, rather than lamenting this or that.”
Fans will surely recall Dario G’s memorable video for “Sunchyme,” showcasing dancers in stunning safari attire and makeup.
Although the ensemble, which included Scott Rosser and Stephen Spencer, eventually disbanded, Paul persisted in touring under the same moniker.
